The Demotic Summer School is an informal meeting of reseachers who are having difficulties reading unpublished or already published Demotic texts.

The aim is to try to solve together the problems of decipherment and interpretation that come with publishing or republishing a document.

Procedure: each participant comes with the text he or she is working on and makes it accessible to the others (contextualisation, transliteration, image) in order to discuss the problematic points.

Invitation

Paris, October 20, 2014

Dear Colleagues,

The 8th Demotic Summer School will take place in Paris at the invitation of Prof. Michel Chauveau at the École Pratique des Hautes Études from July 20 to 23, 2015.

It will be in two stages:

- small working groups: thematic workshops of 10 persons maximum;

- plenary sessions for sharing the findings with all participants.

The school is also open to people who do not want to present a text, including experienced demotists who could lead a workshop as well as non-philologists who work on Demotic sources if there are available places.

We invite all who want to present a Demotic text to give us, in the registration request, as much information as possible, though there will be time to modify this information afterwards.

With our sincere salutations,

Michel Chauveau (EPHE)                                                                  Damien Agut-Labordère (CNRS, ArScAn)

Marie-Pierre Chaufray (Bordeaux-Montaigne, EFJD)                    Sandra Lippert (CNRS)

Brigitte Bakech (EFJD)                                                                        Stéphanie Wackenier (Paris 1, EFJD)
